Ingleton Outdoor Swimming Pool –
One of Britain’s best lidos
We are open for around three months during the summer season from the end of May until early September.
Ingleton’s open-air 20m heated (to over 80F) swimming pool is an idyllic place to visit to experience the pleasure and enjoyment of
outdoor swimming and to enjoy yourself in a fun and relaxed environment.
We are located near the centre of the village, down the hill from Ingleton Youth Hostel in a riverside park setting.
There is no parking available at the swimming pool but it is available in the village.
We are a very popular village attraction with both locals and visitors so on busy days please arrive early to not be disappointed.
During especially busy periods we sometimes need to operate a coloured wrist band system to ensure everybody gets to use the pool on a rotation basis.
Please look at the Opening Times calendar for a detailed breakdown of what we offer and when.
We accept private Pool Hire bookings if you would like to hire the pool for a party, a club event or a family get together.
Ingleton Swimming Pool is a registered charity (Ingleton Rural Community Association Charitable Incorporated Organisation No: 1171743) and all monies raised by our activities are put back into the running of the pool to keep this very unique facility open for use to the general public.
The swimming pool was originally dug out and built by local volunteers in 1933 and the workers included miners from the New Ingleton Colliery (which closed in 1936). Take a look at our History page for more information. Today the pool is managed through two committees consisting members of the local community who give their time on a voluntary basis. We are continually undertaking a programme of pool improvement and modernisation as funds allow.
From all committee, staff, volunteers and helpers – we wish you all a great summer and enjoy your time with us.
